HIV Medical Care

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and other federal government agencies have issued several guidelines and recommendations about the prevention, screening, diagnosis, treatment, and management of HIV infection and HIV-related diseases in the United States and dependent areas.

These guidelines and recommendations are intended for clinicians, public health professionals, program managers in clinical and non-clinical settings, persons at risk for HIV infection, and the general public. Implementation of guidelines and recommendations should also consider other standards, best practices, regulations, policies, and laws articulated by state and local government jurisdictions, public health authorities, health systems, and public and private sector programs and insurers that provide or cover costs of health services.
